In addition to contributing immensely to the newly established BS in Statistics, MS in Applied Statistics and Data Science and soon-to-start PhD in Mathematics and Statistics with Interdisciplinary Applications, the newly hired Assistant Professor is expected to get involved significantly in community engagement efforts. A commitment to excellence in both research and teaching as well as providing service to the community and profession are essential. This appointment involves teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and requires mentoring and supervision of undergraduate research, graduate research, and master's theses. Preferred research areas include multidisciplinary applications of statistics and data science in big data, computational statistics, actuarial sciences, economics, biological and health sciences, environmental sciences, statistical machine learning, deep learning, and causal inference.
